Glastonbury Abbey Appeal - Rescue Our Ruins
Rescue Our Ruins was launched in May 2012 with the goal of raising half a million pounds to save our ancient ruins - this equates to a pound for every person living in Somerset.
The money is needed to fund conservation work and enhance the visitor experience to the Abbey in the following areas:
The North Wall
The oldest standing part of the Abbey dating to the Norman period
The Lady Chapel, Crypt & Galilee
A rare example sited at the West end of a church
The Abbot's Kitchen
An iconic building and a very rare survival in Europe of a medieval monastic kitchen

Janet Bell, Director, said:
"We need to raise £500,000 to secure Glastonbury Abbey's ruins for future generations. The Abbey has been here for hundreds of years and we want it to remain for hundreds more to come. But much will be lost or irreparably damaged if we don't take action now. We are asking for everyone living and working in Somerset to donate a pound to protect this unique piece of history for our descendants. A single pound buys very little these days but for £500,000 we can conserve the Abbey so it remains part of Somerset's future." more
There are numerous ways in which you can help and everybody who donates will be recognised on our online wall whether you give one pound or more. A number of local businesses have already offered their support to the Appeal.
